The Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC) operates the oldest intensive English program in the state of Texas – The Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP). TIEP employs highly qualified Master and Ph.D. level instructors and has taught more than 30,000 students from 131 countries since 1965.

The Intensive English Program with American Experience teaches English language and cultural programs in one of the most desirable travel destinations in the United States – Austin, Texas. Voted 2017 and 2018’s “Best Place to Live in America by US News and World Report, Austin offers plenty of cultural activities for students and professionals alike and attracts nearly 20 million tourists annually.

The classes at TIEC are located blocks away from The University of Texas at Austin campus, making it a breeze to get to class. Our community is not far from I-35 so you can easily get to surrounding areas. We are right by the six-pack, where many freshman classes are located. Overview :

Intensive English program with American Experience is a 3-week Edu program in Austin, Texas designed specifically for qualifying students to participate in an immersive experience to enhance English language skills and global competencies. Students will be grouped according to their pre-assessed levels so that their program will maximize impact and improvement. Students will participate in structured learning environments and real-world situations. The general program combines 12 hours per week of instruction in speaking, listening, reading and writing with 6 hours per week of individualized practice in the language lab. Cultural activities, university campus tours and day trips to San Antonio, Texas are included. Private dormitories located within walking distance from school, the University of Texas at Austin campus, and highly accessible by public transportation.

Detailed course information: 

Intensive Reading (IR) Students read a variety of differentiated materials and participate in structured discussions. An emphasis is placed on language and meaning-focused reading, as well as vocabulary development. 

Extensive Reading (ER) Students read a wide variety of leveled materials. Emphasis is placed on fluency development and reading for pleasure. Targeted small group instruction is provided to build student comprehension and decoding skills. 

Writing Workshop (WW) Students produce a variety of writings of different genres following the individualized learning plan. The course emphasizes the stages of the writing process with a student-centered approach. 

Public Speaking (PS) Students present extemporaneous and prepared speeches. The course focuses on the development of formal, public speaking skills. 

Conversational English (CE) Students engage in structured and unstructured discussions on a variety of topics. The course focuses on authentic and informal communication. Individualized feedback allows students to address specific patterns of error. 

Listening (LI) Students listen to a variety of materials and participate in structured discussions. An emphasis is placed on language and meaning-focused reading, as well as vocabulary development. 

Language and Community (LC) Students use language in authentic contexts. The course focuses on building a student's ability to communicate with native and non-native speakers in a variety of situations. Focused tasks encourage students to build confidence and create connections within the community. 

Language Lab (LAB) Students follow an individualized learning plan using digital resources. The course focuses on building skills to complement other courses. Individualized conferences support students in the successful completion of their learning plans.

June 20, 2021  NYC tour continues with memorable time at Times square 
June 21, 2021  Free and Easy on your own at NYC
June 22, 2021  Tour Ends with transfers to Airport

Tuition does not cover:  Application Fee, the cost of Travel to and from home, VISAs, Travel Insurance, Phones, Tips, optional tours as well as individual spending money and anything apart from the itinerary.

Optional Fee of $999.00 for Explore America tour is excluded in the above tuition.

EDUTOURISM will refund all payments minus the cancellation fee listed above. No refunds will be given on or after 06/01/2021

Note: If an application is rejected or if space in the program is not available, all deposits/payments will be refunded in full, minus the application fee.

Refunds for students who must withdraw because of illness or emergency will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
